Your life has already given you stories, skills, lessons, and hard-earned wisdom. The question is what could you do with them now.
I created The Wisdom Lane to help women like us find the message inside what we have lived, then speak it, write it, teach it, and, if we choose, build income from it. You think you don’t have anything. I promise… you do.
THE SOURCE
Name what it means. See who it can help. Share what it taught you.
THE WISDOM
The perspective, skills, and hard-earned truth you may have stopped noticing.
THE POSSIBILITY
A message, a next move, meaningful work, or income that fits your life now.
For years, so much of our identity came from the career, the business, the children, the responsibilities, and the people who needed us.
Then life changes. The kids grow up. The career ends. The calendar gets quieter. And sometimes the money looks different too.
You don’t need to have all of it figured out. You only need to recognize that you didn’t arrive here empty-handed.
YOUR WISDOM IS THE CLUE
One thing we tend to tell ourselves at this age is, “I don’t know what I could do.” Sis, there is a lot you could do. You’ve just gotten so used to what you know that you stopped seeing the real value in what you naturally carry. Your Story opens the door. Wisdom gives it meaning. Speak, Write, or Teach gives it somewhere to go.
Use your voice, your stories, and your perspective. A channel, podcast, conversation, or stage can become the place your wisdom travels.
Turn your experience into words that can travel farther than you can through essays, books, newsletters, or useful digital resources.
Help someone else get to where you already know how to go through a workshop, course, cohort, coaching experience, or clear method.
I retired from the corporate world at 49 and spent the years since in direct sales, writing, teaching, creating, speaking, changing direction, and reinventing myself more than once.
Then my husband and I made another big move. Literally. We left California and moved to the Dallas area after retirement. New house. New state. New routines. New people. New weather. Lord, the weather. 😂
That move became more than an address change. It would become the doorway back to my own voice.
Today, I’m starting again. I’m growing a YouTube channel, learning new tools, creating new income streams, and sharing what I know with others like me who are looking for their “next”. Not hustle, just next.
The stories bring us together. The practical questions give us something to work on. And real life keeps the whole thing honest.
Sometimes you don’t need another job. You need another way to earn.
Bills don’t retire just because we do. We explore supplemental income through YouTube, writing, teaching, coaching, consulting, speaking, digital products, small businesses, and a few useful income streams you can control.
Relocation can change a lot of things. This is my story, so I share it.
I’m not afraid to get a little personal. This is life. Life is real, and we talk about it. Things like housing, weather, property taxes, neighborhoods, family, marriage, what surprised us, what we miss, and what I would think about differently today.
Keep living, but the goal isn’t to turn retirement into another hustle.
There are a lot of reasons that most of us do what we do. We talk about family, home, confidence, boredom, staying mentally sharp, learning AI, starting YouTube, enjoying a little jazz, and building a life you actually enjoy living.
REBUILDING OUT LOUD.
I’m restarting a channel after being away from YouTube or 15 years. I consistently share useful stories, opinions, lessons, and plain old conversations.
Some videos are about money. Some are about Dallas. Some are about retirement and getting older. And some are simply me sitting down saying, “You know what I was thinking about?”
That’s intentional. We have lived too much life to squeeze ourselves into one tiny little box.
Pull up a chair. This is where we talk it through.
You probably don’t need to blow everything up. You don’t need to become a different woman. And you definitely don’t have to compete with somebody who is 27, has six employees, sleeps four hours a night, and thinks working from Bali is a personality trait.
The Wisdom Lane isn’t about becoming somebody new. It’s about using who you already are to build what comes next.
You don’t need a polished brand, thousands of social media followers, a business plan, or even a finished idea. Start with what’s already there: your life, experiences (lived and learned), stories, skills, knowledge, and your simple perspective on life. It’s who you are. It’s where you start.
A little note from me:
I don’t believe retirement is supposed to make our lives smaller. I think we finally get to become more selective about what deserves our time. More intentional about how we earn. More honest about what we want. And a whole lot less interested in asking permission.
We still have wisdom. We still have choices. We still have time.
Let’s use it well.
